Notice of Race & Sailing Instructions
The Dom Perignon Trophy 2010
For those who are unaware, the Dom Perignon Trophy has been contested annually every summer for a number of years between 2 boats, Kernowek & Jubalani. The trophy itself & some photographs from previous years can be seen in the trophy cabinet.
Kernowek is the current holder of the trophy & therefore David Stucky is the current Defender.
The race for this prestigious trophy will be opened up this year to all boats & contested, as a summer fun event, under the following rules:
- The Challenge Race for the Dom Perignon Trophy 2010 will take place between the Defender & the Challenger.
- The event will take place between 1st July & 31st August 2010, on a date(s) agreed by the Defender & the Challenger(s).
- Any boat wishing to challenge for the Trophy must present a challenge to the Defender by 30th June 2010.
- In the event that the Defender receives more than one challenge, all of the challengers will compete in a Qualifying Race & the winner of that race will become the Challenger for 2010.
- The Defender may also take part in the Qualifying Race. If the Defender wins the Qualifying Race, the boat placed 2nd will become the Challenger.
- The Challenger must provide a chilled bottle of Dom Perignon to be drunk by both crews at the trophy presentation, after the Challenge Race.
- The format of both the Challenge Race & the Qualifying Race (if required) are at the sole discretion of the Defender.
- There will be no spitting, biting or swearing! All other rules for the race will be decided by the Defender. The principles of the Rules of Sailing will apply.
- The Defender must inform the Challenger(s) of the race format at least 48 hours before the race(s).

And something to look forward to from a fellow member Guy Rickett below:
The summer is fast approaching and we all start to think about how we can entertain ourselves. Well, Loraine and I have decided that a good wedding would perk us all up and we have volunteered to put ourselves forward.
At 16:00 hours on Thursday the 24th June, we will wed at the Holy Trinity Church and we would love all of you that know us to come along if you are free. If you can't make the church bit, then please do join us at DOSC from 17:00 hours onwards for a sundowner or three. It will be a relaxed affair like all things DOSC and we look forward to sharing our day with you. Don’t think about it, just put it in your diary.
No gifts please, go out and buy yourself something special or give some money to your favourite charity.
We hope to see you on the 24th.
Loraine & Guy
That’s it from me ~ sailability yachts have now been ordered and will be with us in September ~ a big thanks to all who helped achieve this magnificent goal.
WORLD CUP FEVER IS ALIVE IN THE CLUB ~ FRIDAY AT 1700 COME ON DOWN !!!!!
