Dear DOSC Applicants,

Firstly, thank you very much for your application to join Dubai Offshore Sailing Club. Please be advised that applications are accepted on the proviso that applicants are going to be active DOSC sailors, either in dinghies or keelers.

Please take specific note of the mandatory requirements detailed below that should accompany your application. The Membership Secretary will not review incomplete applications.

It should also be noted that membership will only be granted to applicants on the basis that they are able to demonstrate beyond doubt to the committee that they intend to be active sailors. Hence, applications with additional supporting documents, as noted below, will be elevated accordingly.

Mandatory requirements include the following:

  • Copies of passport details page and residence visa page.
  • 2 photographs of self and family members if appropriate.
  • Names and signatures of Proposer and Seconder (note: if these cannot be provided, you must arrange an interview with the Membership Secretary).
  • (for Dinghy Sailors) Completion of RYA level 2 for seniors and Stage II RYA certification for juniors.

As many as possible of the following should be provided to support your application:

  • Full & detailed sailing CV & copies of any relevant qualifications.
  • Recommendation from sailing club/s where you are holding or have held membership.
  • Recommendation from Keelboat Skipper/Owner at DOSC, as an active crew member.
  • (for owner of a boat, wishing to keep the boat at DOSC) Proof of ownership.
  • (for a prospective buyer of a boat, wishing to keep the boat at DOSC) Proof of Purchase/Sales or Purchase Agreement.

In addition to the above, you may also strengthen your application in any/all of the following ways:

  • Volunteering to crew on Race Days (please call the sailing department in advance).
  • Volunteering to assist with race management or as safety boat driver/crew.
  • Completion of sail training at DOSC.

Please note that a cheque should not be provided until membership has been approved.
