MCA/RYA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore Preperation Course & Exam
An RYA Certificate of Competence is often the ultimate aim of aspiring skippers. It is a well known, highly respected qualification worldwide, proving your experience and competence as a skipper.
Unlike other courses in the cruising programme, there is no formal training to complete in order to become a MCA/RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or Coastal Skipper, however most candidates choose to book tuition to prepare them for the exam.

MCA/RYA Coastal Skipper Pre-course experience |
30 days, 2 days as skipper, 800 miles, 12 night hours (if you hold the Coastal Skipper course certificate this is reduced to 20 days, 2 days as skipper, 400 miles, 12 night hours |

MCA/RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Pre-course experience |
50 days, 2,500 miles including at least 5 passages over 60 miles acting as skipper for at least two and two overnight. 5 days experience as skipper. At least half this mileage and passages must be in tidal waters. All qualifying seatime must be within 10 years prior to the exam |

Certificates Required |
A restricted (VHF only) Radio Operators Certificate or a GMDSS Short Range Certificate or higher. A valid first aid certificate |
5 day Preparation Course AED 5,500, followed by 2 day exam. Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Meals included. members please contact the sailing office for early bird specials and discounted bundle packages.
Exam Fee payable direct to RYA £142 (CS) or £163 (YM)
The Examiners expenses such as flights, hotel accommodation, travel etc (approx AED 4,000) will be shared equally between candidates
